Courtney Love is attacking muppets now. TMZ reports that Love believes Kermit the Frog and his gang of Muppet friends ?raped? the memory of her late husband and former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain by using his song ?Smells Like Teen Spirit? in their 2011 movie, without her permission.
Love claims that she has complete power over Cobain?s music, and that never OK?d the song to be used in The Muppets.
Ah, but Love couldn?t be more wrong because, though she might not know it yet, but she did give her consent. You see, she sold half of her rights of Cobain?s music to a company called Primary Wave Music, and gave them exclusive rights to distribute Nirvana?s entire catalog. Not only that, but Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, Nirvana?s two surviving members, also approved the use of the song. Grohl even made an appearance in the movie.
Love shouldn?t be calling The Muppets rapists. First of all, they?re harmless muppets whose sole propose in life is to make us laugh; and second, both her and her daughter, Frances Bean, get a portion of the profits from the songs licensed from Nirvana?s catalog.
This is just another outburst from a fallen pop star still craving the limelight, right?
