Neil Diamond has some big news. the 70-year-old "Sweet Caroline" singer popped the question to his manager and girlfriend, Katie McNeil earlier this week. The singer took to Twitter to spread the news. "Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you're the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well. Neil [sic]," the singer tweeted Wednesday.
Saying he was "lovestruck," he followed that tweet up with a photo of his < ahref="http://twitter.com/#!/NeilDiamond/status/111481467409928192/photo/1"target="_blank">bride-to-be. McNeil produced the 2009 documentary, "Neil Diamon: Hot August Night NYC," reports the Washington Post.
This will be Diamond's third marriage. The singer was also named one of this year's Kennedy Center Honorees this week and will be inducted alongside Meryl Streep and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. No word yet on a wedding date.
