Prince Harry Successfully Becomes A Military Pilot

Prince Harry Successfully Becomes A Military Pilot

Top Gun

Earlier this week we learned that Prince William has been deployed to the Falkland Islands in order to help keep the peace during the upcoming 30th anniversary celebration of the Falklands War and today we get a new military update from another member of the British royal family. William?s younger brother Harry has successfully completed the military training necessary to become a certified pilot. As you may recall, Harry was stationed here in the US for part of his pilot?s training. Not only has Harry completed his training but he did so with flying colors, earning Best Copilot Gunner award. Click below to find out more about Harry?s latest military accomplishment.

Prince Harry was given an award for ?best copilot gunner? Wednesday as he and 20 of his fellow pilots celebrated completion of their training in Apache helicopters. Harry, 27, was the ?best front-seat pilot? ? the officer who takes control of the mission and its weapons systems and sights ? and given a polished 30mm round from an Apache cannon mounted on a stand as his trophy. The end of Harry?s training means he has attained limited combat-ready status, it was announced by the Defense Ministry and his office at the Palace. A captain in the Army Air Corps, Harry will now be assigned to 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps within 16 Air Assault Brigade and gain more experience in flying as a squadron. Part of his 18 months? training was carried out in California and Arizona, where he had to learn to handle the aircraft in mountainous and desert conditions and took part in live firing training. Colonel Neale Moss, Commander of the Attack Helicopter Force at RAF Wattisham, where Harry was based, said, ?The Apache course is extremely challenging, teaching and testing students in their flying skills, decision-making and mental agility on exercises all over the country and abroad. This requires composure, dedication and hard work.?

Aww ? little Harry is growing up. In all seriousness, let?s send our congrats to the young prince on this military accomplishment. I?m quite certain it is not easy to successfully graduate from this level of military training so he clearly must?ve worked really hard. Like his brother before him, Harry really seems intent on going as far as he can in the British military in the service of his kingdom. I suppose we?ll next be hearing about some military mission in the near future where Harry put his flying skills to the test. Color me impressed. Prince Harry sounds like quite the man, don?t he?
