The CW Casts Stephen Amell As The New Green ?Arrow?

Less 'Green', More Hotness

Earlier this month we learned that The CW is planning to develop a superhero TV series based on the DC Comics hero Green Arrow. Today we learn that The CW has not only decided to rename the series The Arrow but they have also found their leading man. Actor Stephen Arnell, who starred on the last season of the HBO series Hung, has been cast as The Green Arrow (and presumably his secret identity Oliver Queen). The CW has found its Green Arrow. Hung?s Stephen Amell has been cast as the character made famous by the long-running DC Comics series, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Amell, whose credits also include episodes of Private Practice and the CW?s The Vampire Diaries, will play the playboy by day ? who, like Batman ? secretly saves the city by night with his enhanced arrows. Amell becomes the latest actor to play the part on the network, with Justin Hartley playing the character on the CW?s Smallville. The CW ordered Arrow to pilot earlier this month. The retelling of the legendary comics character hails from Green Lantern duo Greg Berlantiand Marc Guggenheim, who will executive produce and pen the project alongside Fringe co-EP Andrew Kreisberg, with whom they worked on Eli Stone. Amell joined HBO?s Hung last season as Jason, a rival prostitute to Thomas Jane?s Ray. Amell had an option to return to the series that ultimately was canceled at HBO after its third season concluded.

Okay, in all honesty ? I was really disappointed when I learned that Justin Hartley, the actor who portrayed Green Arrow on Smallville, would not be getting the lead role in The Arrow but I?m pretty satisfied with Arnell?s casting. I loved him on Hung and I think he?s got the right look to bring Oliver Queen/Green Arrow to life. We?ll have to wait and see how this new TV series turns out but ? as far as this casting goes, I am totally on board. What do ya?ll think? Do you think Stephen Arnell will make a good Green Arrow?
