When you think of Burger King, you think of thing?how the fast food company truly is an arbiter of high class and good taste, right? Well, you be shocked?shocked!?to learn that a company that serves processed meat product sandwiched with fluorescent cheese might not have the best taste. Which is what Mary J. Blige has found out, as Burger King recently apologized to the hip hop singer for having her participate in a new commercial that is being criticized as racist.

Blige?s new ad spot, in which Blige sings to the tune of her own ?Don?t Mind? about a new chicken wrap that Burger King has launched, was recently pulled from circulation as it was ?was widely criticized for playing into African-American stereotypes.?

Burger King released a statement noting that ?unfortunately, the Mary J. Blige commercial was released prematurely before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained,? which essentially means, ?this was unintentionally racist, so we?ll just pretend like we?re not a billion dollar industry that vets everything we do?even though we do.? Burger King went on to state that ?we would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final. We know how important Mary J. is to her fans, and we are currently in the process of finalizing the commercial. We hope to have the final ad on the air soon.?

For her part, Blige stated that ?I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that?s not what was happening in that clip.? Further, she went on to state ?I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But if you?re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.?

So it seems that the backpeddling policy for this ad is simply that ?whoops, we totally released it early you guys, all our ads are racist at first, but they get much less racist once they?re complete.?

What do you think about the controversy?
