After a year back together, Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez have ended their romance. "They broke up recently," a source close to Rodriguez confirms to Us Weekly.

The duo's low-profile love was marked by beach getaways and intense workouts together. So what got in the way? Their work ethic!

"She's very busy with her career," the source says of Diaz. "And he's had injuries and wants to focus on his game. They're dedicated professionals."

Accordingly, don't expect any drama in the wake of their split. "They're still very friendly and like each other," the source says.

A little over a week ago, he and wife <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> welcomed daughter <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">Blue Ivy Carter</a> into the world, and on Wednesday night, big poppa Hov had a bit of business to attend to at the reopening of his 40/40 Club. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:726477" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The stars came out and walked the red carpet before entering the redesigned sports bar. Jay's buddies Warren Buffet, Spike Lee, Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia all attended. "Hov always has big parties, so I'm definitely looking forward to going inside and mingling and jingling," Ashanti said. "We here at the reopening of the 40/40; we about to have a couple of drinks, a lot of beautiful women, New York City, the new joint — you already know," Wale said excitedly. Jigga's 40/40 closed last summer to undergo renovations and is now back with an updated look. While everyone was excited about the new club, baby Blue Ivy was a hot topic on the carpet. Ashanti couldn't be happier for the new parents, but when asked if she had caught a bit of baby fever herself, the "Foolish" singer made it clear that she isn't ready to be a mother just yet. "Oh no, boo-boo, no baby over here. I say it enough in my records," she said with a boisterous laugh. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724136.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Music mogul and record producer Irv Gotti, who has three kids of his own, told MTV News that he shared some fatherly advice with his friend Jay-Z, but he wouldn't reveal any of it. "I'll keep that between me and Hov," Irv said. Then at that very moment, Jay breezed past the carpet trying to dodge reporters and flashing lights, but he did stop to give his old friend some love. After he and Gotti slapped each other five, Jay made a beeline for the 40/40 doors to get the party started.</p>

"OK, I'm young and I'm tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it," he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom. Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre's recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, "Do you know what to do with me?" before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. "Bad bitches know me/ So don't bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds," he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy. Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. "We be on that sh-- that no one be on/ That's what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans," he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn't "need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don't need love lookin' like diamonds/ Lookin' like diamonds." 'The Grey' Director Joe Carnahan Talks Controversial Ending

'You have to decide for you: Is it a movie about a man living and dying or is it a movie about a man fighting a wolf?' Carnahan says.

After three years, we essentially have a new movie tradition on our hands. Since 2009, a Liam Neeson film has opened every January, earning around $20 million in its opening weekend. That much money during one of the box office's most consistently bad months more than proves Neeson's worth as a cold-weather action star.

And it doesn't get much colder than "The Grey." The Arctic thriller won the box office in a surprisingly good weekend for business. Though it made slightly less than Neeson's previous two January releases, "Taken" and "Unknown," the success of "The Grey" signals the star's continued drawing power.

The $20 million take seems even more impressive when you consider that Open Road advertised the movie as little more than Liam Neeson versus wolves. Anyone who saw "The Grey" can attest to a much different picture, one distinctly lacking any of the promised wolf punching. The film plays out much more like an existential drama about men surviving in the wilderness than the supposed "Taken" with wolves premise.

There are spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the film.

As those who saw "The Grey" this weekend will recall, after the wolves pick off the survivors of the crew one by one, Neeson's character, Ottway, moves on as the only man left. He holds onto the wallets of the men who have died in order to preserve some sort of legacy for the forgotten oil workers. The flashbacks to Ottway's wife or girlfriend throughout the film suggest that she left him, but the final look back reveals her illness and presumed death.

After cursing God, Ottway finds himself in the wolves' den, the center of all the evil that has been hunting him. The poem his father wrote persuades him to continue to fight despite overwhelming odds. He tapes a knife and broken bottles to his hands and prepares to fight. The screen goes dark suddenly, and the film ends without showing Ottway's fight, leaving the audience to fill in the blanks and think about what they've seen.

Director and co-writer Joe Carnahan spoke with MTV News about the creative decisions behind the ending, choices he felt obligated to make. "I felt that to end it any other way, I felt that would be spoon-feeding the audience something that I wasn't interested in spoon-feeding them," Carnahan said. "I think the movie's about something as massive and as mysterious as life and death."

Regardless of how you feel about the ending — whether it signals to a deeper meaning or just leaves promises unfulfilled — Carnahan deserves credit for shirking the expected Hollywood ending. Though fans showed support with ticket sales, the CinemaScore exit polling was not as approving. "The Grey" earned a "B-" from audiences, two marks less than its weekend competition"Man on a Ledge" — which earned a"B+" — and the same score as "One for the Money."

Even if audiences were mildly disappointed as the CinemaScore suggests, Carnahan sees his story as one that required the ending he gave it. "I think it's like, you have to decide for you: Is it a movie about a man living and dying or is it a movie about a man fighting a wolf?" Carnahan said. "Because I think it is incidental, at least in my mind, compared to the great questions that it creates in the end."

Blane, meanwhile, is under Jock Pressure or something boring like that, so while he?s at the batting cage swinging his feelings, Jane shows up to swing HER feelings ? on her brother?s advice ? he asks why she ditched him at the dance, and she half tells him (which, was that so hard? She said it was something for her internship ? couldn?t she have said, on the night, ?Hey, I have to do double duty tonight so I?ll be coming and going, but wait for me??), and they decide to have sex sometime ? I mean, ?go for coffee.?

Demi Moore 911 Call: Was Rumer Willis There?

On the call, someone called 'Ru' was asked to provide an address for emergency responders.

Ever since news of Demi Moore's hospitalization broke, more details have emerged each day to paint a clearer picture of the circumstances that led to the actress' ambulance ride to the ER on Monday night.

Some reports have claimed Moore was inhaling nitrous oxide from aerosol cans, also known as whip-its, the night the 911 call was placed from her home in Los Angeles, the recording and details of which were released Friday (January 27). Several people were heard on the call describing various symptoms the actress was experiencing at the time, as well as a few comments that seemed to indicate that Moore's friends were just learning of her alleged substance abuse.

One question that is causing a buzz online is whether Moore's 23-year-old daughter, Rumer Willis, was present during the ordeal. Careful listening of the 911 call reveals an exchange between one of the callers and someone named "Ru," who is asked for the specific address and instructions for how the paramedics can get to the house.

"Hey, Ru, what's the name at the gate so that we can buzz them in from here?" a man is heard asking on the call.

There has been no confirmation regarding Rumer's presence at the scene, but she reportedly goes by the "Ru" nickname and references it on her Twitter account.

Sources told E! News that Moore's three daughters are doing fine since their mom's health scare. Rumer reportedly visited her mother several times at the hospital before she was discharged earlier this week. Tallulah, 17, is with her dad, Bruce Willis. "She's doing great," the source said. "Her grandmother [Bruce's mom] is also there with her." Moore's other daughter, 20-year-old Scout, goes to Brown University in Rhode Island and reportedly hasn't been home since the incident.

Megaupload Users Plan To Sue FBI Over Lost Files

While the FBI went after the file-sharing site for copyright infringement, many users want to recover their non-pirated data.

The drama surrounding file-sharing site Megaupload continued Friday (January 27) as users announced a plan to sue the FBI over files lost during the site's shutdown last week.

Last week, the federal government took action against Megaupload.com, arresting several members of the company on racketeering and copyright-infringement charges. A federal indictment alleged that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceeds and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials.

According to TorrentFreak.com, Pirate Parties around the world are banding together to file an official complaint against U.S. authorities in an effort to recover the large amounts of non-pirated data, research documents and personal videos that are shared among users on the site.

"The widespread damage caused by the sudden closure of Megaupload is unjustified and completely disproportionate to the aim intended," they announced in a statement obtained by TorrentFreak. "For this reason Pirates of Catalonia, in collaboration with Pirate Parties International and other Pirate Parties, have begun investigating these potential breaches of law and will facilitate submission of complaints against the US authorities in as many countries as possible, to ensure a positive and just result.

"This initiative is a starting point for legitimate internet users to help defend themselves from the legal abuses promoted by those wishing to aggressively lock away cultural materials for their own financial gain."

The Department of Justice said the case against Megaupload is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States. The news broke just a day after major websites like Wikipedia and Google protested against the U.S. House of Representatives' controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, and the Senate's similar Protect IP Act.

Earlier this week a silly rumor started to make the rounds that insisted that new parents Beyonc� Knowles and Jay-Z chose Oprah Winfery and Jay?s BFF Tyran Ty Ty Smith to be godparents to their newborn baby girl Blue Ivy. Today we learn, sadly, that the rumor is not true ? well, at least half of the rumor isn?t true. Oprah?s BFF Gayle King has denied the report that Oprah will be godmother to Blue Ivy. Contrary to previous reports, Oprah Winfrey is not a godmother to Beyonce Knowles?s daughter Blue Ivy Carter. On Friday, January 27, Winfrey?s close friend Gayle King set the record straight on ?CBS This Morning?, saying, ?It?s absolutely not true that she?s the godmother.? ?She?s friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much. She?s working on sending them a baby gift. She hasn?t even had time to send a baby gift because she?s been away,? King explained. ?Let me just say, if (that report is) true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born.?

LOL. I mean ? c?mon. As much as it would be awesome to have Oprah Winfrey as a godmother, I never really put any stock in the original rumor. I suppose if Oprah?s out as godmother, Ty Ty Smith is also out as godfather ? but who the hell knows. Actually, B-Jay know but I?m gonna bet good money that they are not going to be sharing that information with the public for a very long time (if ever).

Poor Blue Ivy. Can you imagine all the amazing toys/gifts/whatever she?ll be missing out by not having Oprah as her godmother? Dang.

The Couple That Games Together, Stays Together

Who knew Christina Hendricks was a gamer? Of all the beautiful and relaxing spas, lounges and shopping boutiques available at the Sundance Film Festival this year, Christina was hanging out with her hubby, Geoffrey Arend, at the Nintendo 3DS Experience Lounge - playing with the new system!

Geoffrey?s new film, Save the Date, premiered at Sundance and Christina was seen by his side, supporting him throughout the festival. Geoffrey plays an indie rocker in his new film and said he?s had plenty of practice for the role after preparing for a friend?s musical cover party a few years ago. "I did Hedwig and the Angry Inch in full getup," Geoffrey said. "My wife would come home and I?d be walking around in white platform boots, just practicing, because I knew if I tried to rock out, I?d just break my ankles because I?d never walked in platform boots before. So she?d come home and I?m dressed regularly for two thirds of my body and then I've got on these white platform boots, and she?s like, 'I gotta go to bed.' ?

The platforms apparently aren?t deterring Hendricks anymore, as the couple was seen getting canoodling all over Sundance, stopping in at the Stella Artois Lounge at The Lift, Chefdance and the CAA Party throughout the week. But Christina and Geoffrey looked very at home gaming together on their own separate Nintendo devices. Isn?t a little friendly competition good for a relationship? Other stars who decided to let out their inner gaming nerd at the lounge? Michael Cera, Malin Akerman and Ty Burrell were all spotted getting their Nintendo on.

She is out promoting the latest season of American Idol, which premiered earlier this month, and for this work-related trip she brought along her boyfriend Casper Smart. Idol may be off to a slower start in its 11th year on air, but things are going well in Jennifer's personal life. Casper defended his and J Lo's age difference recently, saying "close your ears and open your heart!" She's also getting along well with her ex, Marc Anthony, despite rumors of trouble when they split last Summer and when she took up with her much younger backup dancer. Jennifer and Marc even held hands at a recent event to promote their upcoming reality show Que Viva to show just how friendly they are as exes.

Oscar's Best Song Category: Why Only Two Nominees?

Complicated voting rules shut out songs by Elton John, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige and Pink.

<P>Tuesday morning's (January 24) announcement of the 2012 <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/oscars">Oscar</a> nominations delivered plenty of surprises. <a href="/news/articles/1677792/oscar-nominations-suprirses-snubs.jhtml">Michael Fassbender ("Shame"), Albert Brooks ("Drive")</a> and Charlize Theron ("Young Adult") were overlooked in the acting categories, while Melissa McCarthy ("Bridesmaids"), Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") and Max von Sydow ("Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close") scored surprise nominations. But perhaps no category was more head-scratching than Best Original Song. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:666363" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Despite the fact that a <a href="/news/articles/1676284/oscar-2012-best-song-list.jhtml">short list of 39 tracks</a> were eligible for <a href="/news/articles/1677781/academy-award-nominations-2012.jhtml">nomination</a>, only two were named — "<a href="/news/articles/1677837/osar-nomination-man-or-muppet-bret-mckenzie.jhtml">Man or Muppet</a>" from "The Muppets" and "Real in Rio" from "Rio" — leaving tunes from Elton John and Lady Gaga, Pink, will.i.am, Zooey Deschanel, Elvis Costello and Mary J. Blige shut out of the competition. Many Oscar-watchers were left wondering why the Academy would opt away from the traditional five contenders in favor of just two little-heard songs. Well, a closer look at the Oscar rule book shows it's probably less a case of choosing to nominate only two songs than it is simply a case of a single song scoring enough points to secure a nod, and then bringing its closest competition along for the ride. Oscar nominations are arrived at using a <i>very</i> complicated weighted system in which members of the Academy, voting exclusively for members of their own branch (i.e. actors chose the acting nominees, directors vote for directors, etc.), rank contenders in order of preference. From there, a "magic number" is determined that relies on the number of ballots cast for a category, along with a specific mathematical equation. Ballots are tallied and contenders are eliminated through several rounds in a process that tabulates factors like first-place mentions and so on. Once a contender reaches the magic number, they are an Oscar nominee. (The folks over at <i>EW</i>'s <a href="http://popwatch.ew.com/2008/01/09/academy-awards" target="_blank">PopWatch</a> break down the selection steps in great detail.) </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:620119" width="240" height="211"></div><p> So this is how the nominees are determined — with one exception: Best Original Song. In 2009, when the Academy opted to up the number of Best Picture nominees to 10 (the voting body has since altered that number), it also changed the rules for Best Original Song. As <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/oscar-analysis-what-happened-to-best-original-1005966952.story#/news/oscar-analysis-what-happened-to-best-original-1005966952.story" target="_blank"><i>Billboard</i></a> points out, members of the Academy's music branch now "assign each song a numerical score between 1 and 10, and if no song receives an average of more than 8.25, there are no nominees. If only one song tops the threshold, as clearly happened here, the next highest vote getter secures a nomination as well." This year's Best Original Song category boils down to this: either Bret McKenzie's "Man or Muppet" or "Real in Rio" by songwriting trio Sergio Mendes, Carlinhos Brown and Siedah Garrett secured a score of 8.25 or better, earning a nomination and pulling the #2 vote-getter into the fray. Simply put, members of the music branch didn't award any other song, including John and Gaga's duet "Hello Hello" or Blige's "The Help" track "Living Proof," a score high enough to secure a nomination. But lest you think that this means the category is all but locked, think again. While selecting the Oscar nominees is an intensely mathematical process, picking the winners is much easier. Once the nominations are decided, every member of the Academy can vote in each category and the nominee that receives the most votes wins. Easy enough. <P>Fox's song-and-dance series "Glee" is no stranger to a star-studded cameo or two, with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth all walking the halls of McKinley High during the past two and a half seasons. And as the show returns from a month-long hiatus, Gleeks aren't the only ones anticipating a few more famous faces. As star Chris Colfer told MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet, there's plenty to look forward to when New Directions warble again January 17. "Well, the Michael Jackson episode ...," Colfer answered when asked about his most-anticipated upcoming episodes. "We have a Spanish episode coming up with Ricky Martin. As to how the King of Pop's prolific songbook will manifest itself in the January 31 tribute episode, Colfer explained, "Well, I sing part of 'Black [or] White.' I'm the 'White' in 'Black [or] White,' and I sing 'Ben,' that famous song he wrote for the rat." The rodent in question is the pet of a young boy named Danny in the 1972 film "Ben." Jackson sang a version of the theme song that appeared in the movie's closing credits and was later included on his 1972 album also named <em>Ben</em>. Among the many talented people who were snubbed by the Academy during yesterday?s nominations announcement was Mary J. Blige, whose theme song ?The Living Proof? for The Help didn?t make it unto the short list of nominees for Best Original Song. Ms. Blige did not take the snub well and took to Twitter to express her grief. Find out what her reaction was.

Shortly after the nominations were announced the singer Tweeted her thoughts over the Academy snub.

?I?m so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is??

The Academy usually nominates up to five songs, but this year they decided to cut down to two (even though they had space for five). The two lucky songs are ?Real in Rio? from Rio and ?Man or Muppet? from The Muppets.

But MJB wasn?t the only singer who got snubbed. Madonna and Elton John also got left out of the Oscar running.

Fortunately, The Help did manage to nab a bunch of other nominations including Best Picture, Best Leading Actress, and two noms for Best Supporting Actress.

MJB should know that�Tate Taylor, the man who helmed The Help was completely snubbed by The Globes and The Oscars. At least, she got a nomination from the foreign press.

<P>On Sunday night, some of the biggest names in the music industry hit up the <a href="/news/articles/1664375/billboard-music-awards-recap-justin-bieber-selena-gomez-kiss.jhtml"><i>Billboard</i> Music Awards</a> in Las Vegas and decided that sparkles and sequins make for the perfect additions to any red carpet get-up. Well, it is Sin City after all. <a href="/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit. <a href="/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a> turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Like Gomez, <a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> opted for some cut-out detailing in her sparkly, slate-gray dress with tulle skirt. <a href="/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> looked white hot in her men's tailored Max Azria suit, which she kept sexy and feminine by not buttoning her shirt all the way. Fergie went S&M chic in her little black bandage-type dress by Hervé Léger. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories. While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress. The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Files Appeal

Murray will represent himself as he contests involuntary manslaughter conviction for which he faces up to four years in state prison.

<P>As expected, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a>'s former doctor <a href="/news/articles/1673957/conrad-murray-appeal-verdict-michael-jackson.jhtml">Conrad Murray has filed an appeal</a> to challenge his involuntary manslaughter conviction. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:708788.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> According to <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2011/12/02/conrad-murray-files-appeal-involuntary-manslaughter" target="_blank">TMZ</a>, Murray filed the petition in pro per, which means he has decided to forego hiring legal representation and represent himself. He reportedly listed "Men's Central Jail" and his booking number in the space on the appeal document where a lawyer would normally list a firm's name or contact information. TMZ also reported that although Murray seems to be without a lawyer, he is still in communication with Nareg Gourjian, one of the attorneys who represented him during his manslaughter trial. "This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer," Gourjian told TMZ. "Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him." Following the guilty verdict, Murray's lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told CNN, "What matters most right now is trying to keep Dr. Murray from taking up a prison cell in this community. That's what we're focusing on right now, and we'll deal with an appeal after that." <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">Murray was sentenced to four years</a> in jail Tuesday, but due to overcrowding, he's unlikely to serve his full term. </p>

Earlier this month we learned the (not at all shocking news) that rapper Snoop Dogg got himself arrested in the great State of Texas for possession of marijuana. Today we learn that actor Armie Hammer (who starred in The Social Network and J. Edgar) was also arrested for the same offense ? back in November, also in Texas. Hammer was taking into custody by authorities after he was found in possession of marijuana cookies. Naughty Naughty.

Authorities say Hollywood actor Armie Hammer was arrested at a border patrol checkpoint in West Texas after a drug sniffing dog discovered marijuana in his car. The 25-year-old, who starred with Leonardo DiCaprio in ?J. Edgar,? spent about a day in jail before paying a $1,000 bond. Arrest records show he had 0.02 ounces of marijuana, three medicinal marijuana cookies and one brownie when arrested Nov. 20 in Sierra Blanca, a few miles from the Mexican border. El Paso?s district attorney declined to prosecute because a felony requires more than 4 ounces of actual marijuana. The county attorney could pursue lesser charges since the case is going back to the local sheriff, but Hammer?s lawyer Kent Schaffer says no charges have been presented.

Them drug-sniffing dogs?ll get you every time! And in TEXAS! Why does anyone attempt to travel thru Texas with marijuana at all? They?ll arrest anyone for the crime ? just ask Willie Nelson or Chace Crawford. That being said, I?m not sure what the prosecution rate is for non-celebrities, but it seems to me that celebs who get busted for weed possession get off with just a slap on the wrist. If Hammer hasn?t been charged with a crime yet, I doubt he will down the line. People, let this be a lesson to y?all ? Texas and marijuana just don?t mix.
