Lana Del Rey, the inexplicably mega-hyped retro-soul/pop singer who has yet to actually release an actual album (there?s one coming in 2012) and has risen to seemingly instant internet popularity due to videos for three songs, will be bringing herself to the masses next January, when she will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
It?s all going down on January 14th, when Daniel Radcliff will be the guest host.� It?s a smart play for everyone involved, as Lana Del Rey will gain some mainstream exposure, and Saturday Night Life will have an internet musical sensation brining her building audience to the show.� The only drawbacks?� Del Rey?s live performances that have leaked on line have been just shy of totally abysmal, and, well, who wants to watch Saturday Night Live anymore?
That said, it will probably help generate even more buzz for Born to Die, Lana Del Rey?s debut album that is scheduled for a January 31st release.�� Still, having to tune in to see a performer who seems totally out of place and terrified during her life performances doesn?t sound like a lot of fun, and Saturday Night Live is, well, Saturday Night Live.
