To promote the New York International Latino Film Festival, ad agency Wing New York came up with a slew of stereotypes in major motion pictures and designed the crap out of them. I guess the point of the ad campaign is to say that this film festival is above all of the following clichs? All I know is that I will cringe the next time I see a movie starring a down-on-her-luck maid, a girl trapped inside of her own car in a horror flick, or anytime a person utters the words "We've got company."

Lady Gaga has never been shy about stumping for political causes. She's stumped for marriage equality and spoken out for marriage equality and against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Her Born This Way track "Americano" even touches on immigration issues, but just because she's currently pop music's most vocal advocate doesn't mean she'd want anything to do with actually holding public office.
During the live "MTV First: Lady Gaga" on Thursday night, the singer said that she has no aspirations to ever do something like become president, even if she was given a free pass for the day to be the leader of the free world.
Watch as Gaga lets her fans announce that she's opening the VMAs this year.
"Well, first of all, I wouldn't want to be president for the day," she told MTV News. "And I say that because I really, for myself, it's important that my message, although it has political implications, I like to keep myself separate.
"Because politics can constrain things," she continued. "So our message can be completely free of any politics and we can just surge forward."
Lady Gaga gave us the real story behind her "Yoü and I" video.
But she has a few big issues she thinks she'd tackle if she were the commander in chief. "I would find alternative uses of energy, I would make marriage equal," she said, before taking a second to figure out her next pet cause. "And world peace. Well, I would do everything I could with the debt crisis, but we all know that's going to take a little while."
During the sit-down, Gaga also opened up about her just-released music video for "Yoü and I" and also shared with fans that not only would she be performing at the 2011 Video Music Awards on August 28, but she'll also be the artist opening the show when it airs live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for your favorites in the general categories by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

As ambitious big-budget projects get shut down or postponed indefinitely, one high-concept movie will finally begin shooting in less than a month?s time...but only with a reduced budget.
The Wachowski brothers and German director Tom Tykwer start work on "Cloud Atlas," the adaptation of David Mitchell?s prodigious novel, in mid-to-late September in Germany after a delay in financing negotiations. The film?s budget had been touted as somewhere around $100 million to $120 million in the past, but producer Stefan Ardnt confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that it will be "definitely lower" than that.
'Cloud,' which stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugo Weaving, spans several centuries, from 19th century Australia to a post-apocalyptic Hawaii, and follows six distinct yet ultimately interlocking storylines. The expansiveness of the saga undoubtedly presents the directing trio with the complicated challenge of bringing it all onto the big screen in coherent fashion (and with less than a 14-hour running time).
Ardnt is confident the trio has worked out a solution, saying, ?"Many have called the novel unfilmable, but Tom [Tykwer] and the Wachowskis have found a way to tell these stories in an amazing, linear and very cinematic way."
The Wachowskis and Tykwer have come up with a savvy method to split directing duties: They will shoot this sci-fi epic in parallel with two separate teams. We?re guessing the Wachowskis will be bringing their forward-looking "Matrix" vision to the futuristic parts of the film, while Tykwer will take charge of the period storylines.
With the reality of a weak global economy and lofty, big-budget fare like "Cowboys & Aliens" underperforming at the box office, it seems like the way to go forward for high-concept projects is to reign in the spending and go creative, as the Wachowskis and Tykwer will be doing. We'll find out how this project ends up looking next year, as the trio is aiming for a Summer 2012 release.

Bigger Than the Sound tries to predict the nominees for this year's Video Music Awards.
By James Montgomery

I've been told that the nominations for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards -- which air live Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV -- are going to be announced on MTV and MTV.com on Wednesday night (July 20) at 11 p.m ET, and that means you should probably get ready for a whole lot of Katy Perry. And Adele. And Britney Spears. And Lady Gaga. Oh, and Rihanna too.
That's because, to paraphrase Beyoncé (oh yeah, she'll probably get nominated too), it's been girls who've run the world in 2011, and the VMAs will probably be no exception. Perry — who has basically been unstoppable since last summer — figures to be the most nominated artist, with this year's breakout star, Adele, close behind. Britney, Gaga and all the rest figure to be in the hunt too. In fact, one has to wonder if the folks behind the show will just go ahead and eliminate the Best Male Video category altogether. More room for the ladies that way.
Of course, we won't know for sure until those nominations are officially revealed, but while we wait, I figured it was time to dust off the old Prognostication Cap and try to predict the 2011 VMA nominees in advance. I've done this for seemingly every awards show in the past, and sometimes I even manage to avoid embarrassing myself completely (not always, though).
So without any advance knowledge — and using as many sweeping generalizations as humanly possible — here are my picks for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Accuracy not entirely guaranteed.
Best Male Video
In a year dominated by females, I suppose someone has to win Best Male Video. I think it's a given that Bruno Mars, Chris Brown and Eminem all land nods here, and I suspect Justin Bieber will sneak in too, if only because it builds off his Best New Artist win last year. The fifth spot is up for grabs, though in a pinch, I'll go with Pitbull, if only because of the recent success of "Give Me Everything." Lupe Fiasco or Trey Songz are also viable choices. My picks:
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade"
» Chris Brown, "She Ain't You"
» Eminem feat. Rihanna, "Love The Way You Lie"
» Justin Bieber, "U Smile"
» Pitbull, "Give Me Everything"
Best Female Video
Sure, Video of the Year is the night's biggest award, but given the success of every artist with a pair of X chromosomes, the Best Female Video might be the toughest — and not just to win. Predicting who even gets nominated is a challenge, considering there are only five spots available. Adele and Katy Perry seem mortal locks, and Rihanna is close. Britney will probably earn a nom too, which means that either Beyoncé, Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj will be left on the outside looking in. Told you this was going to be tough. My picks:
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep"
» Britney Spears, "Hold It Against Me"
» Beyoncé, "Run the World (Girls)"
» Katy Perry, "E.T."
» Rihanna, "S&M"
Best Rock Video
My official title at MTV News is "rock editor," but even I had a hard time coming up with five nominees here. Since 30 Seconds to Mars won last year, I suspect they'll be back to defend their crown. Folks were excited about the Foo Fighters' return, so pencil them in too. Mumford & Sons may very well be the year's most unexpected success, which should earn them a nod. The other two slots? I'm not gonna lie, I just picked names out of a hat.
» 30 Seconds to Mars, "Hurricane"
» Foo Fighters, "Rope"
» Foster the People, "Pumped Up Kicks"
» Linkin Park, "Waiting for the End"
» Mumford & Sons, "Little Lion Man"
Best Hip-Hop Video
A wide-open category, and one that raises several questions: Can Eminem win for the second year in a row? Will Nicki Minaj manage to bum-rush the boys' club? Is Kanye West's epic "Runaway" mini-movie even eligible? I'm not going to pretend to know all the answers, but it certainly makes for an interesting field. In the end, I left Em off — since "Love the Way You Lie" was released in such a nebulous time (August 2010, a month before last year's VMAs and a full 12 months before this year's) — and went with the Beastie Boys, since I have a creeping suspicion they'll earn a nod or two, and this seems as logical a place as any. Nicki and Kanye are in (though I went with the latter's "Monster" video), and so is Lil Wayne. For the last spot, I went with Lupe Fiasco, though it wouldn't surprise me to see Tyler, the Creator here instead.
» Beastie Boys, "Make Some Noise"
» Kanye West (featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver and Nicki Minaj), "Monster"
» Lil Wayne (featuring Cory Gunz), "6 Foot 7 Foot"
» Lupe Fiasco, "The Show Goes On"
» Nicki Minaj, "Super Bass"
Best Pop Video
Another big-time category, another bunch of deserving artists destined to be left out. I like Britney's, Katy's and Gaga's chances, and I'll toss Rihanna into the mix too. For the fifth spot, I went with Bruno Mars, since, otherwise, this category would basically just be Best Female Video, Part II. Of course, in doing that, I excluded Adele, Beyoncé, Ke$ha and about a dozen other worthy acts too. Prognostication is hard work, people.
» Britney Spears, "Hold It Against Me"
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade"
» Katy Perry, "E.T."
» Lady Gaga, "Born This Way"
» Rihanna, "S&M"
Best New Artist
Who will follow in the footsteps of Biebus Christ (and Lady Gaga) and take home the Moonman for Best New Artist? Good question! This is always one of the hardest categories to predict, and this year is no different: The only sure things seem to be Mumford & Sons and Wiz Khalifa, and though Robyn isn't exactly new, she's new enough here (and made some terrific strides over the past 12 months), so I think she's a lock. In a pinch, I'll pick Foster the People (big radio hit) and Tyler, the Creator (big buzz), though Kreayshawn could sneak in too.
» Foster the People
» Mumford & Sons
» Robyn
» Tyler, the Creator
» Wiz Khalifa
Video of the Year
Last year's Video of the Year race featured a trio of underdogs — 30 Seconds to Mars, B.o.B, Florence and the Machine — thrown into the mix. Will 2011 follow suit? Probably not. Adele seems to be a no-brainer, even if most folks have never seen the video for "Rolling in the Deep." Katy, too, but it remains to be seen which of her videos gets the nod. (I went with "Firework." It's mad inspirational.) Em will be back — though one has to wonder if "Love the Way You Lie" peaked too early to be considered a genuine front-runner — and Gaga should return also. I went dark-horse with my fifth pick, taking the Foo Fighters' "Rope" over bigger clips from Beyoncé and Rihanna, mostly because I've got a sweet spot for VHS.
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep"
» Eminem (featuring Rihanna), "Love the Way You Lie"
» Foo Fighters, "Rope"
» Katy Perry, "Firework"
» Lady Gaga, "Born This Way"

Victoria Beckham Surfaces In Public For The First Time Since Giving Birth
The New Mom Emerges
New mom (for the 4th time) Victoria Beckham ventured out in public this weekend for the first time since she gave birth to her newborn daughter Harper Seven last month. As you may recall, hubby David Beckham posted a beautiful photo of mother and child on his official Facebook profile about a week after Harper was born but that photo was snapped in the couple?s home. Ever the trooper, VB presumably got out of the house A.) because she was likely growing stir crazy and B.) because she has much to do to prepare for NY Fashion Week ? which is quickly approaching. Click below to see Vicki B. out and about here in SoCal this weekend.
She?s had a difficult time of it after slipping a disc and being unable to pick up her baby daughter Harper. So Victoria Beckham could be forgiven for failing to raise a smile as she left her Malibu home with her little girl yesterday. The 37-year-old star looked grumpy and tired as she was driven around by her bodyguard on Saturday. Going make-up free for the occasion, Victoria looked worlds away from her usual polished appearance, but showed off her post-pregnancy glow and enviably flawless skin. Later in the day, Victoria hid her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses as she and her nanny stepped out with little Harper. Wearing dark glasses, a plain green dress, and black cardigan Posh Spice appeared to have lost much of the baby weight she had gained before giving birth in July, appearing as slim as ever. Her nanny held Harper Seven?s baby carrier as they made their way to a business meeting ? Victoria thanked fans for their support on Twitter. She wrote: ?Thank u for your kind messages. I?m feeling much better and enjoying every precious minute with baby Harper. I? m so in love. X VB.? Victoria is expected to travel to New York ? 2,400 miles away from LA ? to attend fashion week there and take Harper with a nanny. She will showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Go, VB, Go! It?s great to see her out and about again. Despite the fact that she likely has a million things to do before NY Fashion Week next month, I bet it felt really good to get out of the house. Even if the Beckhams have been holed up in a multi-million dollar Malibu manse all Summer long the cabin fever is the same. Now that she?s made her first public appearance since giving birth, we are likely to see more of VB before she straps on those sky high heels and makes her way to NYC. Work it out, gurl!

Kim Kardashian and basketball beau Kris Humphries have tied the knot! The pair made it official Saturday (August 20) at a private estate in Montecito, California, according to E! Online.
For all those fashionistas out there wondering what Kim wore when she married the New Jersey Nets player, like sister Khloé before her, she stunned in a custom gown designed by wedding-dress maven Vera Wang. Kim's sisters also wore white Vera Wang bridesmaid dresses. For the fellas, including groomsmen Rob Kardashian and Lamar Odom, it was black Zegna tuxes.
The wedding guests included Lindsay Lohan, Ryan Seacrest, Eva Longoria and many of Humphries' Nets teammates. Kardashian bestie La La Vazqez, who is also married to a basketballer, Carmelo Anthony, tweeted before the ceremony, "Butterflies in my stomach for @KimKardashian & @Krishumphries...beyond excited for today! the Anthonys are on our way! Love is in the Air!"
Kim and Kris announced their engagement earlier this year after only six months of dating, and the Kardashian family was just as shocked by the news as fans were.
"We were totally surprised. I mean, because I had been working so much, and Kris lives in New Jersey, I've only met him not even a handful of times," Khloé told MTV News earlier this summer. "We were at a family dinner and she walks in, and she's like, 'I'm engaged,' but we didn't even know if it was a joke."
The couple celebrated their upcoming nuptials Thursday night at Scarpetta inside the Montage Beverly Hills hotel. People.com reports that they were surrounded by 75 of their closest friends and relatives, including Kim's equally famous family, who enjoyed cocktails and dinner. "What a fun night w family & friends!" Kim tweeted after the rehearsal dinner. "Now I'm sleeping in late tomorrow!"
The ceremony will air in E!'s "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" on October 9 and 10.
Leading up to the big day, Kim Kardashian said she was feeling completely at ease with taking this next step in her personal life. In an interview with People.com about her wedding, she said, "Everyone says you'll freak out, but I'm totally calm. I think that freak-out moment kind of already passed."
Leave your congrats for the newlyweds on our Facebook page!

Sarah Palin has not said if she will enter the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, but a growing number of GOP insiders feel she will.
Former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove and tea party organizer Peter Singleton are both among the list of people who think she'll be in, and soon.
Rove said on "Fox News Sunday" that he would bet on it.
"Well, I'm not much of a gambler but the schedule she's got next week in Iowa looks like that of candidate, not celebrity," Rove told host Bret Baier.
Rove noted the video her PAC released Friday, which reaches out to Iowa voters. That video "strikes me as pre-presidential campaign," Rove said.
Palin is planning to speak at the Tea Party of America's "Restoring America" rally in Iowa September 3, which Singleton says could signal her entry.
We're confident she'll run, and we've worked to build that really strong grassroots base that you have to build for a candidate to be successful."
"Labor Day will kick off the Republican campaign for the nomination," Singleton told National Review. "She is going to make a major, major speech."
One that will refudiate so many Obama policies, no doubt.
If Sarah does run, we can guarantee three things:

For those of you who?ve developed (or always had) an interest in the British royal family, this movie should suit you well. The Hallmark channel is about to premiere a new original movie, ?William & Catherine: A Royal Romance,? about the relationship and marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The movie stars newcomers Alice St. John and Dan Amboyer. Victor Garber plays Prince Charles. He is a good-looking Prince Charles, isn?t he? (I?ll always think of him as Spy Daddy from ?Alias? ).
It premieres on Saturday at 9 pm. Are you interested?

Continuing along with its strong theatrical showing, "The Help" took claim to the top spot at the box office over the weekend of August 19-21, 2011.
The Emma Stone fronted book-based picture pulled in $5.8 million on Friday while garnering a second weekend pull of $20.5 million.
Posting solid numbers for a second place effort thus far is the James Franco/Freida Pinto film "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" - which earned $4.6 million on Friday for an estimated third weekend total of $16.3 million.
Rounding out the top five at the box office this weekend in estimated weekend totals are "Spy Kids 4D" ($12 million), followed by the two newcomers to theaters, "Conan the Barbarian" ($10.5 million) and "Fright Night" ($8.3 million).

Just under a month after a similar disaster in which a Cheap Trick outdoor concert stage collapsed in the middle of the Ottowa Bluesfest in Ontario, Canada, a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday night during a Sugarland/ Sara Bareilles concert, killing five and injuring dozens more.
According to Idolator, stage scaffolding and lighting fell into the audience ?as a storm developed,? and that ?the stage Bareilles had performed on ? and Sugarland had yet to set foot on ? collapsed into the audience. The rigging collapsed at 8:49 p.m., apparently just minutes before Sugarland were to begin their set.?
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Sugarland?s website featured a message from the country duo of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, in which they wished that ? God provide peace and healing to the people of Indianapolis,? according to the Sacramento Bee.
In a far lengthier statement, opener Bareilles had this to say:
?The weather changed in a matter of minutes and the stage collapsed in a matter of seconds. We are shocked and saddened by this horribly tragic circumstance and we are all praying for those affected. The emergency response was incredibly speedy and the people of Indiana as well as the crews from the show were beyond brave and working hard to help each other. My heart aches for the lives lost or injured as well as their families. We will do whatever we possibly can to help heal the hurt from this very sad day.?
What do you think of the tragedy?should outdoor festival safety guidelines be reevaluated?

Lindsay Lohan is suing Pitbull for some lyrics in his hit song, ?Give Me Everything.? I guess girlfriend has to make money somehow!
I guess the only way Lindsay Lohan can make money these days is by suing people. She recently settled for a confidential sum with E*TRADE for their commercial which simply said the name Lindsay and now she is going after Pitbull.
The song, was written by Ne-Yo and Afrojack, who are also named in the suit , she is suing over the line:
Hustlers move aside, so I?m tiptoein?, to keep flowin?
I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.
Lindsay is claiming that ? ?the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.?
Going on to say she is ?a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild.?
Well, what they lyrics say is true. Don?t want to be a joke, don?t act like one. I understand she has a disease, but she also has to understand that she is hanging on to her career by a thread. She is very talented but she has become a joke. If she want to be taken seriously she should focus on staying out of trouble and working her way back up. She should be thrilled about someone mentioning her name in a song, it means that she is still relevant!
Lindsay alleges that her name in the song ?causes [Lindsay] to be associated and identified in connection with defendants.?
The suit seeks an injunction to stop all of the defendants from broadcasting the song, and of course unspecified damages.
Celebs have their name mentioned in songs all the time. Perez Hilton gave himself a pseudonym after Paris Hilton. It?s all good.
